Setup

How it works

Install a public script, keep the private key off the page, and read observed visits plus uptime in one workspace.

  1. Create a workspace

    Sign up with an email. WebTrackNext creates a workspace, default timezone Asia/Kolkata, and an owner seat for you.

  2. Register each domain

    Add the site name, domain, and timezone. You get a public key that starts with wtn_ and a script tag to paste in the page head.

  3. Collect and read reports

    Page views, heartbeats, and events post to /api/v1/collect. Origin checks, rate limits, and duplicate event_id values keep the table clean. Live traffic counts activity from the last minute.

What the script sends

Page path, referrer origin, campaign tags, screen size, and a visitor id stored in the browser. It does not include a private HMAC secret.

What we store

Visitor and session ids are hashed with a per-site salt. Raw IP addresses are not stored. Country can come from the edge header when the host provides it.

What we check ourselves

Uptime, SSL expiry, and response time are probed from our server about every five minutes. A down site cannot report itself through the visitor script.
