Guide

Analytics with a smaller data set

The product is built so a site owner can see traffic without keeping the visitor’s address. The limits are specific. Read them before comparing it with a tool that stores nothing in the browser. The panels are examples of the report layout. They are not a live customer account.

What is kept, and what is not

Kept: page path, referrer origin, campaign tags, device, browser, operating system, country, and hashed visitor and session ids. Not kept: the raw IP address, the city, and search queries from the referrer. The dashboard sign-in uses a session cookie. The theme choice stays in local storage on this site. Details are on the privacy and cookie pages.

Use case. A company that does not want raw addresses in the analytics database can use the script and still see country and return visits on that one site.

Limits

  • Do not describe WebTrackNext as cookie-free, anonymous, or hosted in the EU.
  • The visitor id can recognize a return visit on the same site. That is a visitor identifier.
  • People who only browsed a tracked site do not get their own login. The site owner deletes the website to remove its analytics.
